For months, Beast of Reincarnation has raised plenty of questions. A fresh gameplay trailer finally answers one of the biggest. How does combat actually work?

The latest footage puts the focus on battles rather than story. It also shows that Game Freak is aiming for something deeper than simple button-mashing.

Beast of Reincarnation Combat Overview trailer

Every hit builds towards something

Regular fights revolve around two gauges. One tracks an enemy’s health, while the other fills as attacks connect. Once that second bar is full, opponents become vulnerable to a powerful finishing strike.

Parries are just as important. A well-timed block stops incoming damage and fills the FP meter. That energy lets Koo unleash Bloom Arts, special abilities that briefly slow time and create an opening during battle.

The trailer also shows Koo using Higanbana Roots to trap groups of enemies. That makes larger encounters easier to control before they become overwhelming.

Bigger enemies bring bigger rewards

Boss fights appear to follow the same rules but with far tougher opponents. Learning attack patterns and landing perfect parries looks essential if players want to survive.

Victory does more than move the story forward. Defeating bosses unlocks new Bloom Arts for Koo, giving players fresh options as they progress.

Characters also earn SP from combat, which can be spent on new techniques. The latest trailer highlights Sakura Javelin for Koo and Helm Splitter for Emma, both gained through progression.

With launch drawing closer this August, the Beast of Reincarnation’s combat is finally starting to make a strong first impression.
