LG Display has officially introduced a new 24.5-inch FHD 720Hz Tandem WOLED panel, giving esports gamers an even faster OLED display option. The company says it is the first panel of its kind in the industry to combine a 720Hz refresh rate with Tandem WOLED technology.
The new panel is aimed mainly at competitive gamers who need to react quickly to what is happening on screen. It keeps the 24.5-inch FHD format popular among professional esports players while pushing the refresh rate higher than the company’s previous model.
Built for competitive gaming
LG Display says smaller 24-inch class monitors are widely preferred by professional esports players, especially those playing fast FPS games such as Counter-Strike 2. A smaller screen can make it easier for players to keep the entire game area in view during competitive matches.
The new LG Display 24.5-inch 720Hz Tandem WOLED panel is designed around this use case. Its 720Hz refresh rate allows the screen to update up to 720 times per second, which can provide smoother motion and clearer movement during fast gameplay.
The panel also uses a Full HD resolution, keeping the focus on high refresh rates rather than a higher pixel count.
0.02ms response time
Speed is not limited to the refresh rate. LG Display says the new panel maintains an extremely fast 0.02ms response time.
According to the company, this is around one-third faster than the response time offered by conventional OLED display panels. The combination of a 720Hz refresh rate and 0.02ms response time is designed to reduce motion blur and help players see fast-moving objects more clearly.
This could be particularly useful in competitive FPS games, where small differences in movement and timing can matter.
ASUS is already using the panel
The new panel is not just a technology announcement. ASUS has already selected it for the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace gaming monitor, which was unveiled at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne.
This gives gamers an early look at how LG Display’s new 720Hz Tandem WOLED technology can be used in a finished gaming monitor.
LG Display previously announced a 24.5-inch FHD 540Hz Tandem WOLED panel in June. The new 720Hz version takes the same basic approach but increases the refresh rate significantly.
For esports-focused displays, the move to 720Hz shows that panel makers are continuing to push gaming monitors toward even higher refresh rates while keeping OLED’s fast response performance.
