Nintendo may already be looking beyond the current Switch 2. A new report from South Korea claims the company is preparing an OLED version of the console, with Samsung expected to supply the display once again.
Nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo, but the timing of the claim has already caught fans off guard.
A familiar upgrade
According to the report, the new model would keep the same 1080p resolution. The biggest change would be a brighter OLED panel. There is no sign of a larger display, so the console would likely keep its current size.
The report also suggests the hardware could arrive in late 2027 or early 2028. That would be only a few years after the Switch 2 launched.

Fans have mixed feelings
An OLED refresh would follow Nintendo’s usual pattern. The first Switch received an OLED edition later in its life, and it proved popular with players who wanted a better screen.
This time, though, the situation feels different. The Switch 2 display has already received positive feedback. Many players believe it is a strong step up from the original LCD panel, making another upgrade less tempting.

The recent price increases have also changed the conversation. Some fans worry an OLED version could cost even more, especially as hardware prices remain under pressure.
For now, the report remains just that. Nintendo has not commented, and the company rarely responds to product rumours before an official announcement. Until then, the standard Switch 2 remains the only model on store shelves.
