MSI has expanded its handheld gaming lineup with the launch of the new Claw 8 EX AI+, a device built to take advantage of Intel’s latest gaming technology. The new model is among the first portable gaming systems to feature Intel Arc G3 graphics, making it one of the most advanced Intel-powered handhelds announced so far.

The Claw 8 EX AI+ arrives with Intel’s new Panther Lake processor at its core. Designed for both gaming and everyday workloads, the chip combines up to 14 CPU cores with 12 graphics cores based on Intel’s latest Xe3 architecture. This hardware aims to deliver strong gaming performance without relying on external graphics solutions.

While MSI has upgraded the internal hardware, the display remains familiar. The handheld features an 8-inch screen with a Full HD+ resolution and support for refresh rates up to 120Hz. Variable Refresh Rate technology is also included, helping games appear smoother during fast-moving scenes. The screen can reach a brightness level of 500 nits, making it suitable for use in different lighting conditions.

To support modern games, MSI offers up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory. Storage is handled through an M.2 Gen 4 SSD slot, allowing users to install fast solid-state drives for quicker game loading and system responsiveness.

The company has also included a range of connectivity features. The handheld supports WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6, giving users access to the latest wireless standards. For wired connections, there are two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD card slot for additional storage, and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.

Audio has not been overlooked either. The Claw 8 EX AI+ comes equipped with dual speakers rated at 2 watts each and includes TD Audio enhancements. Support for Hi-Res Audio is also available for users who prefer high-quality sound through compatible audio equipment.

Battery life is supported by an 80Wh battery, matching the capacity found in the previous Claw 8 AI+. MSI has managed to trim a small amount of weight from the new model, making it slightly lighter and easier to carry.

Although MSI has yet to confirm an official retail price, industry reports suggest the Claw 8 EX AI+ could be sold for around $1,499. The handheld is expected to become available starting June 23.

With powerful new Intel hardware, a fast display, and support for the latest connectivity standards, the Claw 8 EX AI+ marks another step forward for handheld PC gaming and gives players a new option for enjoying modern games away from the desk.
