Intel brings powerful Arc G3 processors to future gaming handhelds

Intel has officially revealed its new Arc G3 processor family, designed for the next generation of gaming handheld PCs. The company says these new chips will bring stronger gaming performance, better graphics, and modern features to portable gaming devices.

The lineup includes two models: the Intel Arc G3 Extreme and the Intel Arc G3. Both processors use the same 14-core design, featuring 2 Performance cores, 8 Efficient cores, and 4 Low Power Efficient cores. While the overall design is similar, the Extreme version offers slightly higher performance.

The Arc G3 Extreme can reach boost speeds of up to 4.7 GHz, while the standard Arc G3 tops out at 4.6 GHz. Base clock speeds remain the same across both models.

Graphics performance is one of the biggest upgrades in the new series. The Arc G3 Extreme comes with Intel’s Arc B390 integrated graphics, while the standard Arc G3 uses the Arc B370 GPU. The Arc B370 features 10 Xe graphics cores running at speeds of up to 2.2 GHz.

Intel claims the Arc B370 can deliver up to 90 TOPS of AI performance, while the more powerful Arc B390 reaches 113 TOPS. Based on earlier tests of the Arc B390, Intel’s graphics solution has shown impressive results and could compete strongly with popular handheld graphics options currently available on the market.

Both processors have a default power rating of 25W, but they can scale up to 80W when more performance is needed. They can also operate at lower power levels to help improve battery life in handheld devices.

Intel has also included support for several modern technologies. The Arc G3 family supports Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and XeSS 3. XeSS 3 includes features such as Super Resolution, Multi Frame Generation, and Low Latency technology to help games run more smoothly.

The first confirmed handheld to use these new processors is the Acer Predator Atlas 8, which is expected to launch in October 2026. Intel says hardware partners will start receiving the new Arc G3 chips from June 2026, with more gaming handhelds expected to arrive later in the year.

The launch of the Arc G3 family shows Intel’s growing focus on the handheld gaming market, which continues to attract more players and hardware makers around the world.
