PlayStation State of Play Set for June 2 as Marvel’s Wolverine Gets Major Spotlight

State of Play

PlayStation has finally confirmed the return of State of Play, and this one already feels much bigger than the last few shows Sony has put out.

The livestream airs on June 2 and will run for around an hour. Sony says the presentation will focus on upcoming PS5 games, but it is Marvel’s Wolverine that is getting most of the attention online right now.

That is not surprising either. Fans have been waiting a long time to properly see what Insomniac Games has been building.

Marvel’s Wolverine is finally stepping forward

The last major reveal for Marvel’s Wolverine leaned heavily on cinematic moments. It looked stylish, but it also left people asking the same question afterwards: what does the game actually play like?

This upcoming State of Play could finally answer that.

Sony has confirmed an extended segment dedicated to the game, which strongly suggests gameplay footage will be shown. Combat, exploration, abilities, and even a closer look at the world all feel likely at this point.

There is also growing pressure on PlayStation to deliver a strong showcase. 2026 has been quieter than expected for first-party PS5 releases, so a major presentation now makes sense.

More PS5 reveals are expected

Outside of Marvel’s Wolverine, Sony says more PS5 announcements and updates will appear during the State of Play broadcast. As usual, the company is keeping details secret before the event.
