Forza Horizon 6 has not officially launched yet, but the racing game is already tearing through Steam records at full speed.
The latest entry from Playground Games has crossed more than 170,000 concurrent players during early access alone. That is a huge jump for the series, especially when access is currently locked behind the Premium Edition and upgrade bundles.
That number already puts it far ahead of older Forza games on Steam. Forza Horizon 5 reached around 81,000 players at its peak after release, while Forza Motorsport never came close to those figures.

The biggest reason seems obvious. Fans have wanted a Japan setting for years, and the new map has quickly become the main talking point online. Social media is packed with clips of players drifting through mountain roads, neon-lit streets, and rainy countryside routes.
Reviews have also helped push the momentum higher. Early impressions have been positive, with praise aimed at the map design, weather effects, and improved handling.
What makes this even more surprising is that Forza Horizon 6‘s full launch has not happened yet. Once the standard edition unlocks and Game Pass players flood in, the player count could rise even further.

Right now, it already looks like Forza Horizon 6 is becoming one of the biggest racing launches Steam has seen in years.
