The night started and ended with heavy hitters

The first major reveal was Resident Evil Veronica. After years of rumours, Capcom finally confirmed the remake. It is currently targeting a 2027 release.

The final reveal was even bigger. Final Fantasy VII Revelation was unveiled as the final chapter of the remake trilogy. More importantly, it is launching on multiple platforms at the same time in spring 2027.

Some announcements nobody expected

A few reveals instantly stole attention.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is being developed by PlatinumGames, which sounds like a perfect match on paper.

Guild Wars 3 also made its debut, while Stellar Blade: Blood Rain confirmed that the action franchise is already getting a follow-up.

Meanwhile, Tifa joining Street Fighter 6 might end up being one of the most talked-about crossover additions of the year.

New projects filled the middle of the show

Several brand-new games got their first public reveal.

Highlights included Blood Message, gen Atlas, Saw: Genesis, Clutch, CrossFire, and 1666 Amsterdam. There was also a new Cuphead sequel announcement, alongside a separate retro-inspired spin-off.

It was the kind of showcase where every few minutes brought another surprise.

Familiar names returned

Sequels also had a strong presence.

Alien: Isolation 2, The Wolf Among Us 2, Virtua Fighter Crossroads, Attack on Titan 3, and Lords of the Fallen 2 all appeared with fresh footage or release details.

Summer Game Fest 2026 may go down as one of the event’s busiest showcases yet. Whether every game lands successfully is another question, but there is no shortage of ambitious projects on the way.
