ARC Raiders came out swinging at launch, but its latest chapter isn’t getting the same warm welcome.
The Riven Tides update, pitched as the final major beat of the Escalation roadmap, dropped with a new map, a tougher ARC threat, and a bundle of gameplay tweaks meant to keep momentum going. Instead, it’s sparked a noticeable spike in negative Steam reviews.

Recent Arc Raiders review trends have flipped into “Mixed” territory, with negative feedback briefly outpacing positive sentiment by a wide margin. At one point, daily breakdowns showed 364 negative reviews against 221 positives, and even when the gap narrowed, the balance kept swinging back and forth.
Players have mostly taken issue with PvP adjustments and weapon durability changes, which seem to have shifted the game’s feel more than expected. Player numbers did jump at update launch, but the boost faded quickly rather than sticking around.

Still, this isn’t a full collapse moment. Arc Raiders overall Steam rating remains around 85% positive, built on its strong launch reception. One rough update doesn’t rewrite that, but it does show how quickly sentiment can shift when expectations don’t line up with delivery.
For Embark Studios, the real test now is whether Riven Tides is a stumble… or a warning sign.
