The road to Amazon’s God of War series has taken another unexpected turn. Ryan Hurst will no longer play Kratos after a reported injury forced the production to rethink its schedule.

A major change behind the scenes

Reports claim Hurst suffered a torn bicep while filming a stunt. The injury reportedly required hospital treatment and could have kept him away from the set for several months.

Instead of delaying production, Amazon has chosen to recast the role. That decision means scenes already filmed with Hurst will need to be shot again.

The actor had reportedly spent months preparing for the part. He also filmed material for several episodes before the injury happened.

Another hurdle for the adaptation

The live-action God of War series has already faced a long development process. It was first announced years ago before undergoing creative changes and a reported reboot.

Now, replacing its lead actor adds another challenge before cameras can move forward again.

Fans were already divided over Hurst’s casting after early set images surfaced online. Some believed he looked the part, while others struggled to separate the role from Christopher Judge’s acclaimed performance in the recent games.
