Keychron has introduced a new low profile mechanical keyboard, the Keychron K3 Max SE. This model is designed for users who want a clean look and solid features without spending too much.

The K3 Max SE follows the recently announced K3 Ultra and K3 HE keyboards. Unlike those models, this version skips some advanced features to keep the price lower. It is already available on the official store for $104.99, making it a more budget friendly option compared to the other two.

One key difference is the firmware. The Keychron K3 Max SE uses QMK, which is well known and allows easy customisation. In comparison, the K3 Ultra uses ZMK, which is more efficient when it comes to battery usage. Because of this, both keyboards have the same 1,550 mAh battery, but the K3 Max SE offers up to 120 hours of usage, while the Ultra lasts much longer on a single charge.

There is also a difference in polling rate. The K3 Max SE supports up to 1,000 Hz, while the K3 Ultra reaches 8,000 Hz. For most users, this difference is not very noticeable in daily use.

In terms of design, the K3 Max SE keeps the same look as the higher-end model. It features an aluminium frame, a plastic bottom case, and rosewood accents that give it a premium touch. The keyboard comes with LSA profile double shot PBT keycaps, which are made for durability and comfort. It is available only in a black colour option.

Buyers can choose between different switch types, including red for a smooth feel, brown for a balanced typing experience, and banana for a stronger tactile response. The keyboard also supports multiple connectivity options such as Bluetooth 5.2, 2.4 GHz wireless, and USB-C wired mode.
