Mortal Shell II Gameplay Trailer Reveals Open-World Fallgrim, Three Shells, and PS5 Collector’s Edition

Mortal Shell II

Cold Symmetry has released the first gameplay trailer for Mortal Shell II, offering an extended look at the souls-like sequel ahead of its planned release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S later this year.

The eleven-minute reveal, published via the studio’s official channels, introduces three playable Shells: Tiel the Acolyte, Eredrim the Venerable, and Proxima the Broodseeker, each designed around a distinct combat approach. The footage confirms that Mortal Shell II retains the series’ core mechanic of discovering and possessing dormant warrior forms scattered throughout the world, with each Shell unlocking new abilities upon awakening.

The sequel shifts away from the confined level design of the 2020 original, placing its action across an open-world version of Fallgrim. Cold Symmetry has stated the environment is deliberately compact in scope, with the studio citing a desire to respect players’ time. More than 60 dungeons have been confirmed for the map.

Cold Symmetry has also positioned the title as a standalone experience, noting no familiarity with the first game is required. Publisher Playstack has separately announced a PS5-exclusive collector’s edition, which includes an art book, steelbook cover, and limited-edition fine art prints.

Preorders for both the collector’s and standard physical editions are currently live, though a specific release date has not yet been confirmed.
