Resident Evil Requiem puts Leon in a darker spotlight

Resident Evil Showcase - Leon fighting

Resident Evil Requiem is bringing back Leon Kennedy, but he’s not the same hero players remember. Years fighting the undead have left him cold, angry, and sharper than ever.

Capcom’s Koshi Nakanishi explained in an interview with DenNicoFamiGamer that this Leon now carries what he calls a “ruthless anger.” He’s more cynical about the world, shaped by his battles. The team wanted to explore one question: “What type of person would Leon grow into?”

The change isn’t just in his attitude. Leon’s main weapon is now an ax. It’s brutal, it’s bloody, and it’s meant to make players stop and think. Nakanishi says, “You might start asking, ‘What’s wrong with you, Leon?’ while playing.” The weapon reflects his aggression and how much he’s changed over the years

The game pushes players to see Leon in a new light. It’s not just about zombies anymore, it’s about a man who’s been hardened by the world he’s fighting in.

Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27 for PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series.
