Rockstar North, the studio closely tied to GTA 6, was the focus of emergency services in Edinburgh following reports of an explosion early this morning.
The incident was reported at around 5 AM GMT, with police and fire crews quickly attending the scene. The building was cordoned off as a precaution, causing understandable concern given the studio’s role in one of the most anticipated games in years.
Local reports, picked up by Eurogamer, state that Scottish Fire & Rescue were on site for more than two hours. In a statement shared with EdinburghLive, the service confirmed it had “mobilised three pumps and four specialist appliances” in response to the call.

The BBC later reported that firefighters were dealing with structural damage inside the building. Crews were stood down at 9:21 AM GMT once the situation was assessed and secured.
At the time of writing, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. While the exact cause has not been officially confirmed, early local coverage suggests the incident may have been linked to a boiler explosion.

Rockstar North has not commented publicly on the situation so far. Authorities are expected to continue their investigation, with more clarity likely to follow as the day progresses.
