Xbox is kicking off 2026 with its fourth Developer Direct broadcast on January 22. The live event, streaming at 6 pm UK time, will give players a closer look at some of the platform’s biggest upcoming games.
This year’s edition is extra special, marking Xbox’s 25th anniversary while putting the spotlight firmly on creators. Instead of a traditional showcase, the studios themselves will guide fans through gameplay, features, and behind-the-scenes details.
Playground Games double feature
UK-based Playground Games leads the way with two major reveals. First up is Fable, returning to Albion for a fresh start. The team promises the familiar mix of choice, consequence, action, and British humour, but reimagined for a new generation. Expect your first proper look at the world, characters, and a taste of the magic that defines the series.
Next, the studio will show Forza Horizon 6 in action. The open-world racer heads to Japan, with diverse landscapes and new gameplay features on display. Fans will get a first extended look at how the country’s scenery shapes racing and exploration in this latest instalment.

Tokyo spotlight on Game Freak
The broadcast also travels to Tokyo for Beast of Reincarnation, from Game Freak. The action RPG follows Emma and her dog companion, Koo, in a dangerous post-apocalyptic Japan. Developer Direct will reveal Emma’s plant-based abilities, combat mechanics, and what makes this world both beautiful and deadly.

Developer Direct streams live on January 22, offering a rare chance to see these games straight from the teams who made them. Don’t miss it.
