The Game Awards 2025 ended with a genuine surprise. No leaks. No rumours. Just Highguard dropping out of nowhere.

This PvP raid shooter comes from former Respawn developers, now working under Wildlight Entertainment. These are the minds behind Titanfall and Apex Legends, and they’re clearly aiming high.

Highguard World Premiere Trailer from The Game Awards 2025

Highguard blends shooter combat with magic and large-scale PvP raids. Players become Wardens, arcane gunslingers fighting over control of a mythical continent.

Crews clash to secure the Shieldbreaker, then push into enemy bases to destroy them and claim territory. It’s aggressive, competitive, and built around risk and reward.

Then there’s the detail everyone noticed.

You can shoot enemies while riding a horse. It’s bold, strange, and instantly memorable. The kind of idea that tells you this game isn’t trying to blend in.

The Steam page is already live, though details are still light for now. That mystery only adds to the intrigue.

Highguard launches on PC, Xbox, and PS5 on January 26, 2026. It will be free to play. Whether it becomes the next breakout shooter or not, this one is hard to ignore.
