BioWare has confirmed that the next Mass Effect game is in development. Executive producer Mike Gamble shared the update in an N7 Day blog post, putting fans’ rumours to rest.
“Let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and [Electronic Arts] and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe,” Gamble said.
He explained that the last few years have been busy for the studio, but the team is now focused exclusively on the new game. “We have a lot of universe to cover, lots of features to build, and lots of romances to figure out. We’re excited by what we’re building, and when we’re ready, it’ll be a lot of fun to show,” he added.

Gamble also spoke about the Mass Effect TV series in the works at Amazon. The show will tell a brand-new story set after the original trilogy and won’t retell Commander Shepard’s journey. “The writers room is going strong, and we’ve got a lot figured out about how it fits within the Mass Effect canon,” he said.
No release date or platforms have been announced yet, but BioWare’s focus on expanding the universe shows the next chapter is shaping up to be significant.
