The ROG Xbox Ally X is supposed to drop worldwide on 16 October. But in France, some lucky players didn’t have to wait. Amazon France has already shipped units early, and the first reviews are hitting Reddit.
Ally X early impressions from france
One French user shared photos of their shiny new handheld and gave a quick rundown. They said it’s “very light” and compared it to holding an Xbox controller with a screen strapped on. Coming from a Steam Deck, they felt the Ally X was more comfortable and natural in hand.

The biggest surprise? Battery life. Reports suggest you can push past three hours on heavy games at 17W. Performance details also sound promising, with 900p or 1080p on medium to high settings hitting around 35–40 fps at 25W. Throw in FSR, frame generation, or lossless scaling and that number can jump to 70–80 fps without much effort.
Another early buyer surfaced online but later deleted their post, keeping details scarce.
Elsewhere, the Ally X flew off digital shelves, selling out on the Xbox Store almost instantly. And in the same week, the US price for the ROG Raikiri II Xbox Wireless Controller dropped, only adding to the hype around Xbox’s growing hardware push.
