On August 26, Microsoft and Sony made a rare move by swapping shooters across platforms. Helldivers 2 arrived on Xbox Series X/S while Gears of War Reloaded landed on PlayStation 5 for the first time.

Just over a week later, sales figures show Helldivers 2 far ahead. According to Alinea Analytics, the co-op shooter sold 926K units on Xbox, compared to only 259K units of Gears of War Reloaded on PS5. In fact, Helldivers 2 even beat its own PlayStation launch numbers, which were 633K units in the first six days.

Meanwhile, Gears of War Reloaded reached 1.3 million players overall, but most came from Xbox via Game Pass. On PC, only 41K players joined in. The remaster also underperformed compared to Forza Horizon 5, which sold nearly six times as many copies on PS5 in the same period.

Other highlights from August show Peak leading downloads at 4 million, followed by Delta Force with 3.7 million and Grounded 2 at 2.2 million. On the premium side, Mafia: The Old Country crossed 1.2 million sales, while Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater sits at 500K in its first week.
