Activision is cranking up hype for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 with a new teaser video for an in-universe company called The Guild. The clip paints The Guild as a “global protection” firm offering “tech we can trust” – though the tone makes it clear this is probably the last company humanity should rely on.

The video rolls out fake news headlines showing humanity spiralling toward catastrophe. AI is on the rise, military powers are beefing up, and global supply chains are crumbling. Then, suddenly, the music flips, and The Guild claims it has all the solutions to save civilisation. The subtext is Don’t trust them.

This follows the first Black Ops 7 trailer from June, where Adam Mason visits a tech-heavy corporate office. Activision has also launched a dedicated teaser website for The Guild, deepening the story.

Black Ops 7’s big reveal lands on August 19 during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. Rumours say the game could launch in November for console and PC. It will appear on Xbox Game Pass and will, for the first time since 2021, release the same year as a new Battlefield game, Battlefield 6.

Treyarch and Raven Software, the leads on Black Ops 6, return for Black Ops 7. Notably, this marks the first time Activision is releasing Black Ops games in back-to-back years.
