EA says FC 26 is all about fixing gameplay. After last week’s reveal, today’s deep dive focused on what players have demanded for years better feel, better control, fewer headaches.
The biggest change? Two new gameplay presets: Competitive and Authentic.
- Competitive is for online—Ultimate Team, Clubs, Rivals. It’s faster, tighter, and built for full control.
- Authentic is for offline—Career Mode, Tournaments. It’s slower and more realistic.
You can switch between the two whenever you want.
Everything’s been touched. Tackling, shooting, passing, pace, agility, saves, physicality, EA says it’s all been rebuilt.

Competitive mode is based on three things: responsiveness, consistency, control.
Authentic is more about simulation realistic movement, slower tempo.
In the gameplay video, producer Paul Parsons reads old player complaints out loud, then says, “we made it better.” It’s blunt, but it shows EA is trying to fix what fans have hated for years.

We’ll see if it’s real when EA Sports FC 26 launches 26 September 2025 on PS5, Xbox, PC, and both Switch consoles.
