Borderlands 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 3, 2025, just under a month after its September 12 release on PS5, Xbox, and PC.
Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford announced the date in a video on X. He joked like it was a delay into next year, then shouted, “It’s October 3, you guys!” Complete with air horn sounds and hype.
Gearbox says it just needs more time to finish the Switch 2 version. The delay is small, but it means Switch players will have to watch everyone else dive in first.
The big question is how it’ll run on Switch 2. Gearbox claims Borderlands 4 has the best endgame in the series. We’ll see if that holds true across all platforms.

And with past drama around pricing like Pitchford telling fans they should’ve paid $80 they can’t afford another misstep. If the Switch 2 version costs more or performs worse, expect backlash.
For now, it’s a short wait. But expectations are high.
