No Rest for the Wicked might not hit Xbox at launch and the devs are being blunt about why.
In the game’s official Discord, Moon Studios boss Thomas Mahler said the team is likely going with PlayStation 5 and maybe even Nintendo Switch 2 first. Xbox? That’s up in the air.
“Given current market conditions, we might only release on PlayStation 5 and potentially Nintendo Switch 2 for the time being,” Mahler said.
He later posted on X, saying nothing’s official yet, but let’s be real, PS5 is just the smarter move right now.
“Looking at the numbers, PS5 makes the most sense at the moment.”
So yes, the plan is to release on all platforms. But not at the same time.

No Rest for the Wicked puts Xbox on hold for now
The timing isn’t random. No Rest for the Wicked launched in April 2024 on PC in early access. At first, it was under Private Division, but Moon Studios later bought back full rights.
Since then, things haven’t been easy. Reviews were mixed. Mahler even had to ask fans to post positive reviews on Steam after some review bombing. And when money gets tight, you go where the players are.
Right now, that’s not Xbox.
PS5 has a much bigger audience. Switch 2 could follow the same path. Xbox, meanwhile, is shrinking fast. First-party games show up on PC and now other consoles too. So why would a smaller team bet big on Xbox without a Game Pass deal?
That’s the awkward bit. This is the same studio that made Ori, one of Xbox’s biggest indie hits. And now they’re putting Xbox last.

If you’re hoping to play No Rest for the Wicked on Xbox, you’ll likely have to wait. Moon Studios is chasing the numbers and Xbox just isn’t adding up right now.
