Polyarc, the studio responsible for the acclaimed VR series Moss, has officially closed its doors after operating for 12 years.
Polyarc Studio Confirms Shutdown
The closure was revealed through a LinkedIn post, where the team described their run as “the end of an era” and reflected on over a decade spent building games together. Rather than a corporate-style farewell, the message read as a genuine thank-you to everyone who contributed to the studio’s work.
Alongside the announcement, Polyarc took a practical step: they published a spreadsheet containing contact information for their now-former employees, encouraging other studios to consider hiring them. It’s a small but meaningful move at a time when layoffs rarely come with any kind of safety net.

The Moss games, which later expanded beyond VR to flat-screen platforms, earned a loyal following for their charm and inventive design. Their disappearance from active development marks a real loss for the genre.
This closure adds to a rough run for the industry in 2026, following Netflix’s shutdown of Night School and Moonloot Studios, as well as layoffs and a canceled project at FuturLab. The list of studios affected keeps growing.
