The wait for Mortal Shell 2 finally has an end. Playstack has confirmed that the soulslike sequel will launch on August 20, 2026, giving it a clear path before the crowded autumn release season begins.

A quieter launch window

The new release date arrived alongside a fresh cinematic trailer. Mortal Shell 2 is heading to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam on the same day.

August could prove to be a smart choice. Several major games are expected later in the year, making September and October far more competitive. By launching earlier, Playstack gives the sequel more room to attract players before the biggest holiday releases arrive.

Two editions for fans

The publisher also revealed two special editions.

The Devout Edition includes 72 hours of early access, allowing players to start their adventure before the standard launch. Meanwhile, the Revered Edition is aimed at collectors. It comes with a steelbook case, an artbook and a set of art prints inspired by the game’s dark world.

Prices for both editions have not been announced yet.

With just weeks to go, Mortal Shell 2 now has a firm release date and a clear launch strategy. Whether the early access period and collector extras will tempt fans remains to be seen, but the game has avoided one of the busiest release windows of the year.
