Subnautica 2 players already have a clearer idea of what comes next. Just a day after the game’s Early Access launch, Unknown Worlds dropped its first development roadmap, and it points to a busy few months ahead.
The studio is avoiding exact release dates for now. That may disappoint some players, but it also avoids the usual Early Access problem of missed promises and delayed patches. The roadmap is being treated as flexible, with community feedback expected to shape future updates.
The first planned patch focuses on improving everyday survival. Sprinting is finally being added, alongside changes to fabrication systems, wreck exploration, and vehicle docking. The PDA and Biomods systems are also getting updates, while Blight encounters are set to become more refined.

The bigger surprise is how much attention co-op is getting.
Future updates will introduce voice chat, player trading, emotes, and a revive feature. A proper base-building tool is also on the way, plus recipe pinning to make crafting less annoying during long sessions underwater.
Beyond that, Unknown Worlds confirmed new regions, fresh biomes, additional creatures, and another story chapter are all planned during Early Access.

Subnautica 2 is still in the early stages. Even so, the roadmap suggests the studio already knows where it wants to take the survival sequel.
