IO Interactive has delayed 007 First Light, pushing the James Bond title back by two months. Originally set to launch on 27 March 2026, the game will now arrive on 27 May 2026.
The delay comes just three months before release, moving what was shaping up to be a major spring blockbuster into the early summer window. According to IO Interactive, the decision was made to allow extra time for polishing and refinement.
In a statement shared on the game’s official X account, the studio confirmed that 007 First Light is already fully playable from start to finish. The extra development time is focused purely on improving the final build, not fixing something fundamentally broken.
That context matters. The game’s first proper gameplay showing at a recent State of Play didn’t land as strongly as hoped. Frame rate drops and uneven textures quickly became talking points, slightly dulling the excitement around Bond’s big return.
Still, this delay could be exactly what the project needs. 007 First Light is an ambitious origin story, following a younger Bond as he earns the 007 title across a globe-spanning adventure. With a high-profile cast, including Lenny Kravitz, expectations are sky-high.

Missing the March deadline stings, but if these extra two months smooth out performance and presentation, a May launch could give Bond the polished comeback fans are waiting for.
