Another delay hits Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar Games has officially moved the release date from May 26, 2026, to November 19, 2026, giving the studio more time to fine-tune the long-awaited open-world blockbuster.
The news dropped in a short post on X, where Rockstar admitted it needed extra time to reach the level of polish fans expect. “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait,” the post read. “These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
Grand Theft Auto VI delay confirmed by rockstar
Rockstar followed up by thanking fans for their patience, promising that the wait will be worth it once players explore the massive state of Leonida and the returning Vice City.
It’s not the first delay, but few are shocked. With Grand Theft Auto VI carrying sky-high expectations, Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive are clearly aiming for perfection.

Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick reinforced that mindset, saying, “If a game requires more polish to be the best possible version of itself, then we will give it more time. That’s exactly what happened.”
So mark your calendars, Grand Theft Auto VI now arrives on 19 November 2026. The countdown restarts.
