After seven years of updates, events, and virtual chaos, EA has confirmed that The Sims Mobile is shutting down on 20 January 2026. The mobile life-sim will receive one final update on 20 October, setting up a few farewell events before everything fades away for good.

Launched back in March 2018, The Sims Mobile gave fans a pocket-sized version of the iconic life simulator. But once the servers go offline at 1:59 pm UTC on the shutdown day, the game will stop working entirely, even for players who still have it installed. EA will also delist it from app stores on 21 October, and in-game purchases have already been disabled.

One last hurrah before the lights go out

As a final send-off, EA will unlock the entire content library on 6 January, giving players full access for two short weeks before the servers go dark. The dev team thanked fans for their years of support, calling these final moments a chance to “finish projects, make memories, and celebrate their Sims.”

EA hasn’t explained the reason behind the closure, but all signs point to Project Stories, a new mobile entry in The Sims series reportedly in development. Whether it’s to make room for that or part of EA’s ongoing cost-cutting moves, one thing’s clear: The Sims Mobile is taking its final bow early next year.
