Steam breaks new record with over 41 million players online, thanks to Battlefield 6 boost

Steam

Steam just broke another record, clocking over 41 million concurrent users and setting a new all-time high. The milestone came only seven months after the previous one, proving that Valve’s platform isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

While many assumed the Steam Next Fest caused the spike, the numbers tell a different story. The event began on October 13th, but Steam hit its 41 million CCU record a day earlier, on October 12th. That points straight to Battlefield 6, which launched the same week, as the likely boost behind the surge.

Sure, Battlefield 6 didn’t top the charts – Counter-Strike 2, DOTA 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds still pulled higher player counts, but it clearly played a part in pushing Steam over the line.

In the top 15, CS2 leads with more than 1.5 million players, followed by DOTA 2, PUBG, and Battlefield 6. The real surprise, though, is Delta Force in fifth place. Despite its Mixed and Mostly Negative reviews, it’s become a hit for TiMi Studio Group.

Other heavy hitters like Apex Legends, Banana, Wallpaper Engine, Rust, and Stardew Valley round out the list.

Whether Steam can outdo itself again in 2025 is anyone’s guess, but with these numbers, another record-breaking weekend feels inevitable.
