Marvel Rivals turned Kevin Feige’s son into a fan when the MCU couldn’t

Marvel Rivals season 3

Even Kevin Feige’s own son wasn’t into Marvel. That says a lot. But now, thanks to Marvel Rivals, that’s changed.

Feige told The Wrap that his son only pretended to care about the MCU. “Feigned interest in a supportive way,” he said.

Then Marvel Rivals dropped.

And just like that, his son was hooked. “He was asking me about Hela. The Punisher. Other characters. Then he started watching the shows,” Feige said.

It’s a wake-up call for Marvel. Big movies and shows aren’t enough anymore. You need something that clicks with new players and new fans.

Feige pointed out that Spidey and His Amazing Friends also helped. It brought in preschool fans. But Marvel Rivals is hitting older players hard.

Launched in December 2024, the game hit 40 million players by February 2025. That’s huge.

It’s now on Season 3. New characters include Phoenix and Blade. And with The Fantastic Four: First Steps about to hit cinemas, timing couldn’t be better.

Marvel Rivals

The Fantastic Four already joined the game in Season 1. But now they’ve got new movie-style skins. Even a combo move for Human Torch and The Thing.

That’s clever. It keeps things fresh and connected to what’s coming next.

If one game can get Feige’s own kid into Marvel, imagine what it’s doing for everyone else.
