CD Projekt RED and TRIGGER team up again for a new anime in Night City.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II is official. CD Projekt RED and studio TRIGGER are back with a brand-new anime set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.

It’s a standalone series. It does not continue David’s story. That part is done. This time, it’s a fresh tale set in the same gritty world.

The new anime promises something darker. It’s focused on revenge and redemption. And yes, Night City is still as wild as ever.

Here’s the team behind the Cyberpunk Edgerunners:

• Kai Ikarashi makes his directorial debut. He worked on Edgerunners and SSSS.Gridman before.
• Bartosz Sztybor returns as showrunner, writer, and producer.
• Kanno Ichigo leads character design again. Known for Promare.
• Masahiko Otsuka is writing the adapted screenplay. He worked on Gurren Lagann and Promare.

At Anime Expo 2025, Sztybor said:

“David’s story might be over, but there’s plenty more to discover in Night City… We’re excited to show a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge.”

The announcement came during a panel titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Behind the Scenes With its Creators. Later that evening, TRIGGER showed teaser footage behind closed doors.

No public trailer yet. No release window either. But the hype is real.

A new story. A new edge. Night City isn’t done with us yet.
