World of Warcraft players can stop guessing. Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that World of Warcraft: Midnight will launch on 2 March 2026 at 3:00 PM Pacific Time. A rumour claimed the expansion would arrive in late February, but Blizzard has nudged things forward by a few days and planted the flag firmly in early March.
This is the eleventh expansion for the MMO giant and the crucial middle chapter of the Worldsoul Saga. The story comes from Chris Metzen, who returned to Blizzard in 2023 and has been steering Warcraft back into familiar, fan-favourite territory. Midnight picks up after The War Within, throwing players straight into chaos as Xal’atath steps back onto Azeroth with the Void at her side. The invasion hits Eversong Woods and spreads through the Blood Elf homelands, while the massive Voidstorm hangs over Quel’thalas like a countdown to disaster.
World of Warcraft: Midnight – date trailer
Blizzard isn’t holding back on features. Midnight packs four new zones, eight dungeons, three raids, and eleven Delves. Silvermoon City has been rebuilt to support both factions for the first time. A new Allied Race, the Haranir, joins the roster. Demon Hunters get the Devourer spec. A new opt-in bounty system called Prey enters the mix. Even the campaign shifts direction, letting players choose which story path to complete first.

The best part? Player housing arrives early. Anyone who pre-purchased the expansion can jump into their new home from 2 December thanks to early access. Unlock the new Welcome Home achievement and Blizzard will throw rewards across several of its games. Overwatch 2 gets a full Xal’atath-themed Symmetra bundle. Hearthstone players earn a new card back and a themed in-game event. StarCraft II gets Horde and Alliance skins. Oddly, Diablo IV sits this one out.

With a firm date set and early access housing landing next week, Midnight is already shaping up to be one of WoW’s biggest shifts in years.
