Positive step forward as Wildlight brings fresh content to Highguard

Wildlight Entertainment has shared a positive update for its free-to-play raid shooter Highguard, marking the first new content drop since the studio faced major layoffs.

Since launch, Highguard has struggled to gain strong player support, and recent staff cuts raised concerns about the game’s future. Even so, the studio had promised that development would continue. This latest announcement shows that work on the game is still moving forward.

In a post on X, Wildlight confirmed that the new update will arrive in the same week as the announcement. While bug fixes and small improvements are expected, the studio has also highlighted several new additions coming with the update.

The biggest addition is a new base called Cloudreach. This base is set on a large airship high above the ground, with the main objective located inside the ship. Players will fight both around and inside the airship, shifting between long-range sniper battles and close combat in narrow hallways.

The update also adds a new Raid tool called the Lockpick. This tool fires darts that can open doors and windows or shut them down for a short time, giving teams better control during raids. The Lockpick uses a new ammo type called Darts and can be selected in the starting loadout or found inside red chests during matches.

Alongside gameplay content, the update introduces the Moonbruin Mount to the in-game store. Players can also buy new Wayfinder Bundle Series skins, which follow a steampunk Iron Vigil style to match the airship theme of Cloudreach.

Wildlight has also shared some hopeful news for the future. The studio says it is already working on the next update, which will bring a new game mode focused on the Raid experience, along with weapon balance changes and other improvements.
