Ubisoft has officially cancelled Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, closing the door on a remake that never quite escaped development limbo.
The decision arrives during a major restructuring at Ubisoft, with the publisher confirming that five projects have been scrapped in total. Those include three unannounced new IPs and a mobile game. According to the company, the cancelled titles no longer met its tighter quality expectations or portfolio priorities.

This is a sharp shift in direction, and one that clearly leaves no room for long-running problem projects.
As part of the overhaul, Ubisoft is reorganising its studios into five new “creative houses”. Vantage Studios will handle blockbuster franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. Other teams will oversee brands including The Division, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and Rayman.
Announced back in 2020, the remake suffered repeated delays before being restarted from scratch at Ubisoft Montreal. Despite revamped visuals, animations, and gameplay systems, the team admitted it could not reach the standard players expected without further time and investment.

Ubisoft insists Prince of Persia still matters. But for now, this chapter is firmly closed, and the franchise’s future remains uncertain.
