The Eternal Life of Goldman looks incredible in new trailer, but release date is still missing

The Eternal Life of Goldman - key art

Weappy Studio has dropped another jaw-dropping gameplay trailer for The Eternal Life of Goldman, and it’s safe to say this could be one of the best-looking 2D platformers we’ve seen in years. Every single frame is hand-drawn, and it shows. this game looks like a moving piece of art.

The new footage came during the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, showing off fresh environments and some seriously slick animations. But here’s the kicker: still no release date. For a game that looks this polished, the wait is starting to feel extra long.

The Eternal Life of Goldman gameplay trailer

A story trailer that hits hard

While we didn’t get a launch window, the trailer gave us more of the story. It opens with a mother and her son talking about Goldman, a man who wasted his life chasing treasure maps. As the mother gets angrier, she lashes out at her son for following in Goldman’s footsteps. The boy, clueless about why she’s so upset, becomes visibly scared.

The trailer’s final shot shows Goldman dropping into a dark chasm, leaving you wondering what happened to the boy. It’s an emotional gut-punch and a solid tease for what could be a gripping narrative.

looks can’t carry it alone

Yes, The Eternal Life of Goldman looks phenomenal. The hand-drawn animation is up there with Cuphead, and that’s not a comparison we throw around lightly. But visuals won’t be enough. The platforming has to deliver. Cuphead earned its reputation with tight, challenging gameplay, not just pretty art.

So far, Goldman looks like it’s on track, but we need to see if it can stick the landing. Until then, it’s all potential.

Now, if only they’d tell us when we can play it.
