The Division: Definitive Edition resurfaces at £50, but nothing has been upgraded

The Division: Definitive Edition

Tom Clancy’s The Division is back on digital stores, and the timing should have been perfect. With The Division 3 still on the horizon, this was meant to fill the gap. Instead, it has landed with a thud.

The Division: Definitive Edition was quietly released on PlayStation and Xbox on 3 February. No trailer. No big announcement. It simply appeared. That silence now makes sense.

This is not a rebuilt version of the game. There is no native PS5 or Xbox Series X|S upgrade. No visual overhaul. No performance boost. No tweaks to gameplay. It runs exactly as the older console version through backwards compatibility.

The Division: Definitive Edition feels like a straight re-release

The store listing spells it out. You get the base game, all three Season Pass expansions, and a set of cosmetic packs. That is it. There is no mention of improved lighting, higher frame rates, or modern console features.

Any improvements come only from basic upscaling. The work has not been done on the game itself. In reality, this feels very close to the existing Gold Edition, just repackaged.

At £50, it is a hard sell. Returning players have little reason to double dip. New players may enjoy the content, but expectations need to be low.

The Division: Definitive Edition

After recent issues surrounding Ubisoft, this release feels poorly judged. A definitive edition should move the series forward. This one simply stands still.
