Take Two Interactive has laid off its Head of AI and an unconfirmed number of department employees, with the news confirmed by the affected executive himself on LinkedIn.
Luke Dicken, who served as Head of AI at Take Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games and GTA 6 developer, announced his departure this week, noting that his broader team had been dismissed alongside him. “It’s truly disappointing that I have to share with you that my time with T2 and that of my team has come to an end,” Dicken wrote, adding that the group had spent seven years developing technology aimed at supporting game development workflows and empowering staff throughout the production process. He used the post to appeal to his network to assist his former colleagues in finding new positions.

A History of Cuts
The move follows a pattern of restructuring at Take Two. In 2024, the company cut five percent of its global workforce and cancelled several projects as part of a cost-reduction drive that reflected broader industry trends at the time.

The scale of the latest AI department reduction remains unclear. Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has previously stated that artificial intelligence could not produce a game of GTA 6’s calibre, a position he has maintained publicly on multiple occasions. The layoffs arrive with GTA 6‘s launch now just months away.
