Scum exits Early Access and launches fully on Steam this June

SCUM, the multiplayer survival game that’s been in Early Access since 2018, is finally getting a full launch. Jagex and Gamepires have announced that the game will officially release on 17 June for PC via Steam.

The game drops players into a brutal fight for survival, set on SCUM Island, now the stage for season two of a twisted reality show by entertainment giant TEC1. Prisoners must compete not just to stay alive, but to win over producers, sponsors, and viewers. The reward? Fame, gear, and maybe even a shot at freedom.

Why SCUM stands out in the survival genre

This isn’t your usual survival game. SCUM goes deep, letting you manage everything from your character’s metabolism to how quickly your clothes dry. It’s up to you how much you want to get into the details, but they’re always there, shaping the way you play.

The island itself is huge, 225 square kilometres filled with forests, beaches, abandoned airfields, and towns. You can explore on foot or use vehicles, boats, and aircraft to cover more ground. Every location has its dangers, and nowhere is truly safe.

Want a break from survival? The game also includes PvP network events, fast, high-stakes combat zones where you fight other players for loot and fame points. These events are optional but offer a different pace if you’re up for the challenge.

Even after launch, the developers plan to keep adding more content, new mechanics, more missions, and deeper systems for long-term progression. The game supports up to 64 players per server, and you can rent your server directly from the in-game menu.

After nearly six years in development, SCUM is finally stepping into the spotlight. Whether you’re a returning player or jumping in fresh, 17 June marks the start of a new chapter for one of the most detailed survival games out there.
