Grasshopper Manufacture has announced ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN, a new ultra-violent sci-fi action game coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC in 2026. This is the studio’s first original game in five years.

What makes ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN stand out?
The game focuses on fast, bloody combat called “Bloody Action.” You switch between guns and swords, using enemies’ powers against them, with lots of violence and intense battles. The levels are designed to keep the action exciting and challenging.
You play as Romeo Stargazer, an FBI Space-Time agent who becomes “Dead Man” after a near-death experience. Trapped between life and death, he hunts dangerous fugitives across multiple universes. Romeo wears a special suit called “Dead Gear” and fights to find his missing girlfriend, Juliet, while solving mysteries linked to a time paradox caused by a scientist.
Goichi Suda, the game’s director, says the team is working hard to finish the game without the old all-night crunches. He also joked about coming up with a nickname for the long game title, like “RomeDead” or “IsA.”
