Capcom confirms Resident Evil Requiem story expansion after huge launch success

Resident Evil Requiem

Capcom clearly has another monster hit on its hands. Resident Evil Requiem has barely been out for two weeks, yet the survival horror sequel is already racing past major milestones and lining up more content for players.

Director Koshi Nakanishi recently confirmed that the game has crossed five million copies sold since launching on February 27, 2026. That pace makes it the fastest-selling entry in the long-running Resident Evil series.

And the studio is not slowing down now that the numbers are in.

Nakanishi shared that the team is continuing to patch bugs and improve performance. But alongside those fixes, players can also expect a steady flow of new features.

Resident Evil Requiem story expansion and new updates planned

The biggest reveal is that a Resident Evil Requiem story expansion is already in development. According to the director, the additional content will explore the game’s world more deeply, though it may take some time before players see it.

Before that arrives, a few smaller updates are planned. A photo mode is currently on the way, which should let players capture the game’s darker moments. A new mini-game is also in the works.

There is even a mystery announcement scheduled for May 2026, though Capcom is keeping that one quiet for now.

For a game that has only just launched, Resident Evil Requiem already looks set to grow well beyond its original release.
