Resident Evil Requiem may not leave last-gen consoles behind. According to leaker Dusk Golem, the upcoming ninth entry in the series is expected to release not only on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, but also on PlayStation 4 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
The insider suggested that these versions could use different technology and may not launch at the same time as the main release. Still, the game is said to be built with strong optimisation in mind, much like the Resident Evil 4 remake.

Unlike open-world titles such as Monster Hunter Wilds and Dragon’s Dogma 2, Requiem will keep its survival horror roots. This should allow the RE Engine to perform more smoothly across platforms.
Dusk Golem also mentioned that Capcom’s planned Resident Evil 0 remake has faced delays after a development reboot, meaning fans may wait longer before seeing it.
Capcom is aware that the high price of new consoles has slowed sales. A cross-gen release of Resident Evil Requiem would fit that strategy, ensuring more players can experience the game when it launches early next year.
