Resident Evil Requiem is giving players the freedom to choose how they want to play, whether that’s up close in first-person or with a wider view in third-person. Hands-on previews at Summer Game Fest 2025 have confirmed that you’ll be able to switch between both perspectives using a simple toggle in the pause menu.

Requiem lets you play your way
This is a big deal for fans of the series. While earlier Resident Evil games mainly used third-person, things changed with Resident Evil 7: biohazard, which went fully first-person to create a more intense horror experience. That continued in Resident Evil Village until the “Winter’s Expansion” DLC added third-person as an option. Now, with Requiem, you can pick whichever view works best for you, right from the start.

The early previews are already out if you’re curious to see what the game feels like in action. You can find impressions on Game Informer, GameSpot, Easy Allies, IGN, PlayStation Blog, Maximilian Dood, Rock Paper Shotgun, The Sphere Hunter, and Xbox Wire. Japanese previews are also available on 4Gamer.net and Famitsu.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam on 27 February 2026.
