Resident Evil Requiem announced for PS5, Xbox, and PC, out February 2026

Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry in the iconic survival horror franchise. It’s headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC (Steam) on 27 February 2026, with a playable demo coming to Gamescom 2025 in Cologne from 20–24 August.

About Resident Evil Requiem

Well, Resident Evil Requiem isn’t just another sequel; it’s being teased as the most immersive entry in the series so far. Powered by the RE ENGINE and pushing modern consoles to their limit, Capcom is promising an experience that blends psychological horror with pulse-pounding action. If you’ve missed the haunted halls and dark alleys of Raccoon City, you’re in for a return trip, because this one takes us right back to where the original outbreak shocked the world.

The details are already chilling: lifelike facial animations, realistic skin textures, and even sweat droplets so detailed that it sounds like you’ll need a towel by the end of each session. The devs are using tech advancements to bring every scream, shadow, and story beat to life, and if you’ve followed the franchise up till now, you know they’re not playing around when they say “escape death.”

Here’s the mood they’re setting:

“Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the living.”

Yep, it’s that kind of game.

What’s exciting is how wide the game’s reach will be. Resident Evil Requiem will support voiceovers and subtitles in a long list of languages, including English, Japanese, French, German, Russian, and several others, making sure the horror hits globally, loud and clear.

This announcement is just the beginning. There’s a whole year of reveals ahead, and Gamescom 2025 will give us the first hands-on glimpse. If Resident Evil Requiem is ushering in a “new era of survival horror,” then the question is… will you survive it?
