Co-op horror REANIMAL finally arrives, and it looks like Tarsier’s darkest gamble yet

Co-op horror games do not land every week, so this launch matters. Built by Tarsier Studios and published by THQ Nordic, the game is now playable across PC and current consoles.

The idea is simple but effective. Two siblings return to a ruined island. Friends are missing. Creatures are worse. You can face it alone, but the real draw is co-op. Horror usually hits harder when someone else is screaming with you.

Early response looks solid. At the time of writing, review scores on Metacritic lean generally favourable. That does not guarantee success, but it suggests the game is connecting.

Studio head Oliver Merlöv called the project deeply personal. That usually means strong art direction and careful detail. Players will decide if that effort shows.

There is also extra fan service already. Official merchandise has appeared via IGN, and a possible friend-pass feature has been mentioned, though details remain unclear.

If the co-op systems hold up, REANIMAL could stay in the horror conversation for a while. If not, it may fade fast. Either way, horror fans now have something new to test their nerves.
