Qwertykeys has officially revealed the QK65 V3 retro mechanical keyboard, and pre-orders are now live. After weeks of hints and early previews, the company has finally shared full details, and the keyboard is shaping up to be one of their most exciting releases yet.

The barebones kit begins at $199, giving users the case, PCB, built-in display, linked hardware, stabilisers, and the plate of their choice. There’s also a great bonus offer: if you add the themed keycaps for $14, you receive 70 Rye switches for free. Since a decent set of switches and keycaps can easily cost much more, this offer adds real value for anyone building their setup.

The QK65 V3 retro uses a compact 65% layout, keeping the arrow keys while removing the function row, numpad, and navigation column. It comes in five nostalgic colour options Eclipse Grey, Retro White, Pink, Green, and an anodised Basalt Grey. Users can also pick aluminium, polypropylene, or FR4 plates depending on the typing feel they want.

The highlight of the design is the built-in display. It can show custom animations, the time, and even a cute cat or dog that reacts to your typing. There’s also a fun mini-game called “Animal Supermarket” for quick typing practice. Along with entertainment, the display shows useful system details like battery level, wireless mode, OS mode, and caps lock. Two slim knobs on the top-right make it easy to change modes without going into software.

Customisation is another major strength. The keyboard works with a special version of VIA made to support the display. This lets users change RGB lighting, create macros, remap keys, and adjust display effects in a simple and friendly way.
With its retro look, strong features, and solid pricing, the QK65 V3 retro feels like a keyboard built with passion and care. It mixes fun and function in a way that should appeal to both newcomers and mechanical keyboard fans.
