Prologue: Go Wayback

It’s not just another survival grind. Greene’s studio, PlayerUnknown Productions, is promising hardcore roguelike mechanics, dynamic weather, and a huge 64km² map inspired by the Czech Bohemia region. The world is built in Unreal Engine 5 using machine learning models, then filled with rivers, forests, and shelters. Millions of unique maps are on offer, so no two runs should feel the same.

Temperature isn’t just a stat here – it’s a fight for your life. You’ll need warm clothes and campfires to keep from freezing while searching for the mysterious Weather Tower.

The beta comes after six months of community playtests. Feedback has shaped new ways to explore and survive. More features will roll out in the months ahead, leading to an early access launch on PC.

Prologue: Go Wayback is also the groundwork for Project Artemis, a platform aimed at “massive-scale creation” for future games.

The open beta is live now. Bundle up – you’re going to need it.
