Krafton Montréal has revealed Project Windless, an open-world action RPG set in the world of The Bird That Drinks Tears by Lee Youngdo. Often called “The Korean Lord of the Rings,” the series inspires a world full of conflict, ambition, and legend.

The game is a prequel, taking place 1,500 years before the novels. Players will witness the rise of the Hero King and the founding of the Aragit Kingdom, with freedom to shape history along the way.

Four unique races will drive gameplay. Humans are strategic and ambitious. Tokabi are fire-wielding tricksters. Naga are cold and ruthless. Rekkon, giant bird-like warriors, are fast, strong, and deadly. Each race changes how battles play out.

Combat is set to be brutal and chaotic. The new “Mass Entity AI” lets players face hundreds of smart enemies at once, making every fight feel like a real war.

Krafton Montréal is collaborating with teams in Pangyo, South Korea, to keep the lore authentic. It’s a premium single-player game for PC and consoles, though no release date is set.
