Capcom brought Onimusha: Way of the Sword to Gamescom 2025, giving fans a chance to try the game on the show floor. A new video has surfaced online, showing 12 minutes of gameplay from the demo.

The footage highlights the game’s fast-paced sword combat and its dark fantasy setting. Players step into Edo-era Kyoto, a city transformed by a mysterious force called Malice. As the samurai hero, you must fight through hordes of Genma, terrifying creatures from the underworld that threaten to consume the land.
A key part of the adventure is the Oni Gauntlet, a mystical weapon that grants special abilities. It allows the samurai to unleash devastating skills against enemies while uncovering secrets hidden in the cursed city.
Capcom has confirmed that the game is scheduled to launch in 2026. The Steam page for the title is already live, though it does not list system requirements yet. There is also no mention of Denuvo protection, but that may change closer to pre-orders.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword looks to be a return to the series’ roots, blending intense combat with a dark and atmospheric world.
