MindsEye faces alleged €1 million sabotage, co-CEO vows action

MindsEye - key art

Build a Rocket Boy co-CEO Mark Gerhard has claimed that MindsEye was the target of a deliberate campaign meant to damage the game and the studio’s reputation. In a recent internal meeting, he said the studio has identified the people behind it.

Gerhard alleged the campaign cost more than €1 million in 2025. He suggested a “very big American company” funded the operation but did not name it. He also pointed to the UK-based firm Ritual Network, claiming it paid influencers, journalists, and even some employees to spread negative messages about MindsEye.

Gerhard said legal action is planned. Those involved could face criminal complaints for espionage, sabotage, and interference.

Ritual Network has strongly rejected the allegations. The company said it has no connection to the claims and has seen no evidence supporting them.

A spokesperson for Build a Rocket Boy declined to comment on the leaked meeting. The studio confirmed, however, that it believes there has been a coordinated effort to harm confidence in MindsEye. Legal steps are in progress.

Gerhard also addressed the recent monitoring software installed on staff PCs. The software tracks user activity to prevent insider threats. He admitted the rollout caused concern and said communication about it could have been handled better.

Despite the controversy, Gerhard said the studio’s priority remains delivering a strong game. He emphasised that MindsEye should be judged by players, not outside interference.
